Texas Holdem Tip of the Day #93 – 03/29/2010
Texas Holdem Percentages and Math: Pot Odds
My opponent and I each have $2,500 in chips. There is already $5,000 in the pot when the turn card arrives. My opponent goes all-in, creating a $7,500 pot. Should I call? First, I need to calculate the pot odds, or the amount of money I stand to win relative to the amount of money I’ll have to put at risk.

Texas Holdem – After Flopping Two Pair
Texas Holdem Tip of the Day #92 – 03/28/2010
Texas Holdem – After Flopping Two Pair
Not all two pair are created equal. There are three different varieties – top two pair, top and bottom pair, and bottom two pair – and each has its own unique properties and strategic implications. One constant among all three, however, is how unlikely I am to improve my hand. I will only draw to a full house or better 17 percent of the time. In other words I’ve got to plan on winning with two pair.

Texas Holdem Session Length
If I am losing, I’ll make just about any excuse to leave the table. I’ll leave even if I know I’m playing well but I have had the best of it. I get up and leave because
- My opponents are very likely playing their A-games.
- My opponents are not likely to give my game the respect it normally deserves.
- My opponents are playing with confidence.
- My bluffs are less likely to work because of my weak, tilting image.

Texas Holdem Psychology: Beating Overly Aggresive Opponents
Texas Holdem Tip of the Day #89 – 03/25/2010
Texas Holdem Psychology: Beating Overly Aggresive Opponents
I am not normally a fan of slowplaying. Against overly agressive opponents, however, I am willing to change my tune. Truly hyper-aggresive players will fire two, even three bluffs at a pot when they just can’t win. I am more than happy to check and call and let them bust themselves.
